The International Women's Day 2021 is coming up on March 8. However, this year, the circumstances are a bit different but it is still a day to celebrate women across the nation. It is a day when women are recognised and celebrated for their achievements and contribution towards society.
Today's Women have gone against the grain of male-dominated societies and cultures, more than ever before. Every year, women from all over the country roar 'success' in various fields with confidence, courage, and intelligence. They make our nation proud with their excellence and achievements.
One such woman who made India proud is Hima Das, a star sprinter who has been appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Assam Police.
Hima Das Inducted As DSP Of Assam
India's star sprinter Hima Das on February 26, 2021, officially inducted as Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assam. The Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal in presence of the Assam Police felicitated the star sprinter. Hima since childhood dreamt of becoming a police officer. Her mother too wanted her to become a police officer and often use to buy her toy gun during the Durga Puja festival. Hima wanted to work for the Assam police and serve the people since the early school days.

Who Is Hima Das
Hima Das, a 21-year-old Indian sprinter who is also known as 'Dhing Express' is the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at IAAF World Under-20 Championships. She clocked a speed of 51.46 seconds.
The daughter of a rice farmer, Hima Das was born on January 9, 2000, in Dhing village of Assam's Nagaon district. In July 2019, Hima won five back-to-back gold medals in about a month in the Czech Republic at the age of 18.

Hima Das had an interest in sports since childhood. She used to play football in mud pits with local boys and later took professional athletics by coach.
Hima bagged a gold medal at the Indian Grand Prix II in Women's 200 m with the timing of 23.31 seconds on Thursday, February 25, 2021.
