• The United States (US) officially rejoined the “Paris Climate Agreement” on February 19, 2020. After leaving office 107 days, the United States rejoined the agreement. With the re-entry of the United States, world leaders expect that the country will now prove its seriousness largely absent for four years.

• The Minister of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change unveiled the Atal Paryavaran Bhavan in Lakshadweep on February 19, 2021. This is the coral atoll of Lakshadweep. The atoll has an oval shape and is 17 kilometers long. It is surrounded by abundant marine fauna. It is located southwest of Kavaratti, 76 kilometers south of Agatti. • A major pharmaceutical manufacturer developed the final dosage form of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and Brivanext for epilepsy. Epilepsy is a central nervous system (neurological) disease in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causes seizures or a period of abnormal behavior, sensation, and sometimes even loss of consciousness. Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disease, affecting people of all ages.

• The Rajasthan State Government will identify new tourist spots in the Sambhar Salt Lake. The lake is part of the desert tour of the Cenrer’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme. The scheme was launched by the Ministry of Tourism in 2014-15, with the purpose of comprehensively developing theme based tourist routes in the country. Located about 80 kilometers southwest of Jaipur, in the east-central part of Rajasthan.

• India joined Australia, Japan and the United States to participate in a ministerial meeting under the Quadrilateral grouping (Quad) and discussed the issue of military takeover in Myanmar and the Indo-Pacific. Discussed contemporary challenges, especially the impact of Covid-19, and agreed to increase access to affordable vaccines, medicines and medical equipment.

• Indian Navy ship Pralaya arrived in Abu Dhabi, UAE, to participate in the NAVDEX 21 and IDEX 21. • Successful user trials of the Anti-Tank Guided Missile Systems “Helina” and “Dhruvastra” developed by DRDO. • The other five states underwent partial Power Sector Reforms and obtained additional borrowing of Rs. 2,094 crore. The states of Bihar, Goa, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand have successfully achieved the targets set by the Ministry of Power to reduce Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses, or achieved target reduction in Average Supply Costs and Average Revenue Realisation (ACS-ARR) gap.

• The Minister of Transport initiated the “Go Electric” Campaign. The aim of the campaign is to promote electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the benefits of electric cooking in India. The idea of the initiative is to encourage the use of electric vehicles instead of vehicle that use gasoline and diesel.

• Prime Minister addressed India-Australia Circular Economy Hackathon (I-ACE). The hackathon aim to enable students and start-ups/MSMEs in both countries to develop innovative solutions for the development of circular economy throughout the food system value chain, in order to increase the long-term health and resilience of the planet through innovative technological solutions.
